“Helping travelers with food allergies explore the world — or just their own backyard — with confidence 😉”

Project Name:

Eat Safe Anywhere

Originally I had planned to make this an app for vegans like myself. However, recently I took a trip abroad with my partner to Japan. Korea and China. I am a vegan and his peanut allergy had just come back with a vengeance. We had talked about Bali, but he was nervous because of his peanut allergy and inability to speak the language. I speak Korean and Japanese, so he felt reassured. This is a culmination of my experiences traveling as a vegan, my friends experience traveling with celiac disease, and my partner with his severe peanut allergy.

Background:

Design a mobile app to support safe eating while traveling with food allergies.

Goal:

User Pain Points:

The Problem:

“How might we help travelers with food allergies feel safe and confident eating abroad — even when they don’t speak the language?”

Over 220 million people globally suffer from food allergies. How many of them travel internationally? Or how many of them are afraid to travel internationally because of their food allergies?

Many travelers with food allergies or dietary restrictions (like vegan or gluten-free) face language barriers, ingredient confusion, and anxiety when eating abroad. They struggle to communicate their needs safely and clearly.
